Guides

A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino by John Brierly

A compact book that covers all the basics to help prepare for the Camino and guide you through each stage. This is a popular book, so many people follow the start and end of each stage, so the towns tend to be crowded with pilgrims competing over the same accommodations.

Camino de Santiago: Camino Francés (Guide with Map Book - Cicerone Guides) by Reverend Sandy Brown

This guide comes as two books which is good since it's quite heavy and allow you to leave the guide behind and keep the map book with you while on the trail.

Websites

Booking.com

Great for booking accommodations, but keep in mind that many municipal alburgues aren't on this site. This site help me keep all my accommodations organized and I could easily view, manage, and make changes using my SmartPhone.

Gronze.com

By reputation amongst other pilgrims, this site has the most up to date information about accommodations, which was helpful while planning during the pandemic. The site is in Spanish and I used the Google Translate function in Chrome to translate it to English, but this did not work out very well on my iPhone.

Stingy Nomads

Written by a couple who write about their experiences, and they provide very detailed, boots-on-the-ground real-life tips here. Their breakdown of costs is a very popular page.

Santiago de Compostela Catedral

The Cathedral also has their own website that provide infomration about the Pilgrim's Passport, stamps, and the compestela.

American Pilgrims on the Camino

Local confraternities of the Camino are also excellent sources of information. Mine is the American Pilgrims on the Camino.

Efrén has done many of the Camino de Santiago routes, and has hiked many other trails like the AT, Macchu Picchu, and Kilimanjaru. He's a travel vlogger and skilled filmaker which gives high quality feel to his glimpses of stages and tips on gear. He's quite entertaining, as well!
